The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season presents a diverse group of characters residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans make a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
